About Me
Hi, my name is Ty Chen, a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Waterloo.
I have a passion for 3D modeling, whether it be in Blender or SolidWorks.
I enjoy turning ideas into tangible results!

I am pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Most recently, I completed a co-op term at Waddell Engineering Ltd., where I analyzed technical drawings, performed design calculations, and designed steel components in SolidWorks, producing detailed manufacturing drawings with a focus on fabrication and assembly. Prior to this, I completed a winter co-op term as an Engineering and Validation Lab Intern at Bend All Automotive ULC, where I conducted tensile and burst testing on automotive fluid lines, collaborated with engineers to refine testing methods, and applied APQP and DFMEA methodologies to support validation activities. Earlier in my academic career, I completed a high school co-op term and a full-time summer position at Greentec, working in sustainable technology recycling. These experiences have helped me build a strong foundation in design, manufacturing, problem-solving, and technical communication.
Outside of academics, I enjoy developing personal projects in Blender, ranging from isometric interiors to stylized weapons and low-poly environments. I have recently begun learning how to code and participate in coding challenges whenever possible. I have practiced martial arts for over ten years, earning an International First Degree Black Belt in Meibukan Goju-Ryu Karate in 2023, followed by a Second Degree Black Belt. I also enjoy going to the gym, rock climbing (currently at V5), and producing music in FL Studio as a creative outlet.
